As I write this letter it’s July 2022. This marks two significant events. Bezeugen was formed in July 2007 making this the 15th anniversary. This letter is for October. It will mark the 14th anniversary of the Bezeugen Tract Club. The first mailing went out in October 2008. At our 10th anniversary we released a booklet detailing the history of the ministry. Reminiscing on the first tract club mailing, the book says:

We started hosting many outreach opportunities around the DFW metroplex so that people who had been to our seminar could come out to share the Gospel. We like to look at it as the laboratory part of the seminar. We’ve shared the Gospel at all the major sports venues in Dallas and even had the opportunity to share the Gospel at the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals as well as the Cotton Bowl and many other events.

While sharing the Gospel at a Dallas Cowboys game a woman picked up a tract from the ground and was reading it. Carl went over and talked to her and asked her if she understood what she was reading. She  said, “no, can you explain it to me?” Carl shared the Gospel with her and she received eternal life in Jesus. Another couple came out from the game and after giving them some tracts we had a conversation with them. They identified themselves as Christian. So we asked if they ever share the Gospel with other people. They indicated they did not know where to get Gospel resources. I got their email address and told them I’d send them some links to where they could order them. I sent them the email to follow up.

The next day it struck me, not like an audible voice of God or anything, but certainly like God telling me essentially, “Carl, why don’t you send the tracts to them?” And just like that the idea for the Bezeugen Tract Club was born. I called Craig and suggested that we send 30 free Gospel tracts per month to people, so they could share them one every day. He liked the idea. At that time, we had about 100 people on an email list that we would let them know when we were going to share the Gospel and they would pray for us when we did. So in October 2008 we prepared the first mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club and sent it to these 100 people with a letter telling them that if they wanted to receive tracts each month to let us know. Some joined, some didn’t.

This months tracts include:

Great Pumpkin… This is a fun tract to hand out at Halloween or leading up to Halloween. Once a year people come right to your door. They need the Gospel too. Check out the BLOG for lot’s of ideas on how to share the Gospel with trick-or-treaters. Cancer Awareness… This is a powerful tract developed in honor of a number of friends of the ministry who have had cancer. Some the Lord called home. Some recovered and use their experience to tell of God’s glory! As you hand out this tract to share the Gospel remember that everyone has a certain “kind of cancer” called sin. Jesus is the only remedy. That’s right. Imagine if your doctor told you the only remedy is surgery and chemo and you said, “you know doc, I’m not really that fond of surgery”. Well, you’d likely die if not getting the prescribed treatment. The wages of sin is death. Only Jesus has conquered death. The world does not like that solution, but it remains the only one!

Get out of Hell Free … This remains one of the most popular and requested tracts. Often people who get one ask for another to hand to a friend. I recall one pastor sharing with me that a member of his church was upset that the tract says “God hates these types of religions”. The man went so far as to ask “who authorized the use of this tract at our church?” The pastor looked back at him and said, “I did!” He wasn’t being flippant. Actually, Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with God. Religions are man made attempts to earn favor with God. But that is not possible except through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Million Dollar Eye Test… This tract was developed to hand out at the State Fair of Texas. For the past ten years Bezeugen Ministries has staffed a booth at the fair that is run by Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. The booth has a large banner in the back that say’s “Million Dollar Eye Test”. People are drawn in. We use a simple example to ask if they would trade an eye for one million dollars. We use that answer to establish the great value they have on their eye. But the eye is merely the window to the soul. So we then ask how much more valuable their soul is and where it will go when they die. That leads to sharing the Gospel. It’s a great conversation starter. Use this tract in the same way to get people thinking about the value of their soul. For more information on the outreach see their Facebook page. Thank You… On October 23, 2013 we received this comment on the As You Go BLOG, “I just had an idea for a tract, one that I would certainly use a lot ….. what about putting “Thank you!” on the front, so that it could be handed to a cashier, or given out when responding to a kindness, or in a “thank you” card? On the back perhaps a connection for all that we have been given thru Christ’s sacrifice, or some such connection…..? Such a card would be very handy to give on many, many occasions. Football Trivia – People love to show how much they know about the things they think they know about. Football is no exception. Even if you don’t know anything about football, you can confidently ask people these questions and tell them if they are right or wrong without looking at the back. How? The back of all our trivia cards is the same. In other words, they all have answers A, B, C, B in that order. Quiz people. Have fun. But be sure to ask the last question and then share the Gospel with them. I’ve done this while witnessing at football games. But I’ve also done it standing in line at the post office!

Created to Do — Hard to believe I am quoting from a BLOG post written 11 years ago when I say, “Several years ago, … I recorded Pastor Biggs speaking on what he calls “God Sized Questions” or GSQ’s.  … As you watch this video, you’ll hear Pastor Biggs mention asking someone a question “are you doing today what you were created to do?” I’ve used that question many times in witnessing to people. In fact, one day after I first heard Pastor reference this, I challenged my friends at lunch to use this question in witnessing to people that day at the mall.” Read the rest of the article and how it went asking this question at the mall all on our website.

Number of days — this tract is designed around an interesting question. Which of these two people have lived more of their life. The quick answer is to say the person who is older. But, if he 70 and lives 30 more years he has only lived 70% of his life. Meanwhile the young man could die tomorrow and hence has lived 100% of his life. Often when talking to young people they say something to the effect that they will think about eternity, death, religion someday. But what if that someday never comes. The Bible says that God has “numbered our days”. Hence we must be ready sooner, rather than later! 

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Get out of Hell Free… On of the most popular tracts we have made. Many people will ask you for more to give to their family and friends. Based on the Monopoly card people often read it as “get out of jail” and some even comment “I might need that”. While only some people would need a get out of jail free card, everyone needs to get out of Hell, or escape it’s power. No card can do that. But Jesus can. So hand this out and encourage people to read the back! You can read more about this tract on our website.

Free Indeed – Freedom is in the news a lot.  Some would say we live in a free country. Some say we have the freedom to do this and that. The Bible says all mankind is in a bondage to sin. Sometimes that sin has earthly consequences that require freedom from handcuffs. Other times the consequences are  not legal in nature but lead to addictions, struggles in life and other consequences. There is a freedom from sin that comes only from Jesus. He paid the price for the sin of the world. All who repent and believe are given eternal life. In heaven we will even be free from death, sorrow, pain and illness. Offer that freedom to someone!

Bucket List — A lot of people think of things they would like to do one day before they die. They call it a “bucket list”, things to do before you kick the bucket.  There is even a movie with the same name. It’s a great way to get people dreaming and talking about their future. Ask them what is on their bucket list. I like to follow up with “do you think you’ll ever do any of them?” It’s hard to believe we made this tract more than 12 years ago. I have handed a lot of them out and asked these questions, I got to thinking about my own bucket list. I’d always wanted to run a marathon, and never had. In December 2010 I ran the Dallas Marathon. Play by the Rules — August brings the end of summer. Kids getting back in to fall sports. Football season will start soon. One thing all sports have in common is that there is a set of rules to follow. If you play by the rules you might win. But if you break the rules there may be some penalty enforced. We wrote this tracts with kids in mind and had the help of a friend from Child Evangelism Fellowship. It’s great to hand out anywhere, but especially to kids, at little league games, etc. Read more about this tract on our website.

This month marks the 166th mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club. This months tracts are:

Uncle Sam… The ten commandments serve as a mirror to show us our sin! I am amazed that James Montgomery Flagg drew the famous “I want you for U.S. Army” he did it by drawing himself in a mirror. In a similar way when anyone honestly looks into the mirror of God’s Law they see themselves as a sinner in need of the savior. I often tell people in one on one conversations that “all have sinned” the only question is “if they will admit it”. If they confess their sin, repent and believe the Gospel, then God will save them!

Are you a good person? Many will say yes. Follow that up by asking “are you good enough to go to Heaven?” I like to point out to people that if they want to go to God’s Heaven, then they have to get there by God’s standard. Goodness therefore is by keeping his standard. See 1 John 3:4 printed above. Sin is lawlessness. And even one sin prevents someone from going to Hell on their own goodness. That’s why people need the Lord and his righteousness. None of us is good enough to go to Heaven. But Jesus is. That is the good news!

Fear Not — is it hard to believe that it’s been over two years since the COVID-19 pandemic struck the whole world? Will any of us ever forget where we were when we first heard of COVID-19? Or what we thought when the government declared some employees essential and others non-essential? During that time we created this tract because while we realized that people were fearful of COVID-19, they also are fearful of many other things. Some are fearful of who will be elected in the next election. Some are afraid of the dark. Or of heights. This tract shares hope that with God we need not fear. For those who believe God is with them. Share that hope with people as you hand out this tract!

Thank You — this is one of our most popular tracts. It is so easy to hand out. Just give it to thank someone for anything they do. Mail it with a thank you note or card. Hand it to someone in a store that provides you help to find an item. Leave it with a generous tip when you pay your bill at a restaurant. I emphasize generous tip, because please keep in mind, waiters and waitresses work hard. And to receive something instead of a tip is offensive to them. You may like to register for the 2022 National Day of Prayer. This prayer guide is also helpful in your monthly prayer meetings.

It’s been said that “April Showers bring May flowers”. Well in the case of the Bezeugen Tract Club, May brings tracts for May the Fourth, Mothers Day, Prayer and a new design to address a popular misconception about the Bible! I can’t remember the number of times I’ve heard something to the effect that “we are all children of God.” While we are all created by God in his image, the Bible clearly teaches than unless you receive Him, Jesus, as your Lord and Savior, then your father is the devil. This month we are introducing a new tract that teaches this basic Biblical fact!

May 4th is considered “Star Wars Day” because it is a play on words of “May the Fourth” with the popular phrase from the movie “May the Force be with you”. The original Star Wars movie, episode IV called A New Hope, was originally released in May (25th) 1977. Amazingly this will be the 45th anniversary of the movie release. A few years ago we released the enclosed “May the Lord be with you” tract. These are popular with Star Wars fans and non fans alike. Like the concept that we are all God’s children, many believe God will be with them no matter what. Again, there is a Biblical truth we can cling to and share from Matthew 28 that Jesus is with His believers always!

May 5th is the National Day of Prayer. Since May 2010 Bezeugen Ministries has been hosting events on the First Thursday of each month in the style of National Day of Prayer. Each month we send an email with suggested A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) verses for prayer. Typically local groups meet at noon at their respective city hall. If you’d like to host a group, or simply receive these notifications to pray please contact us. We also will hold a 7AM (Central time) prayer conference call on May 5th as well as each First Thursday of the month. The information will be provided in the monthly email. 

All of that to say, prayer is important! It’s an often untapped resource. The Bible says to pray for all people, especially those in authority. In March we released the Pray for America and Pray for Canada tracts. This month Texas members of the Bezeugen Tract Club are receiving “Pray for Texas” tracts. Mother’s Day is May 8th. Mother’s are great gifts to us. If you are able, go see your mom on Mother’s Day. If not, if she is still alive, call her. No matter if the relationship is strained or great, reach out to her. A day will come when you can’t make that call or visit. So cherish every moment you can with the woman who brought you into this world. This tract came from a conversation with Phil, a good friend and long time tract club member. I remember sitting with him over coffee one afternoon when he was visiting Dallas and I asked him to describe sharing the gospel. He talked about seeing mom’s with their babies and complementing them on how the child is such a great gift. But then transitioned to “that’s great, but what’s the greatest gift?” Instantly we knew there was a tract in that. We have a Christmas and a more generic themed version of this tract. We also now have this tract translated into Spanish (see the front side of this letter).

The “Greatest Gift” tract has been a favorite since it was introduced a few years ago. Recently we had this translated into Spanish. They are now available by donation. Submit a request online or by sending a donation ($5 for 100, $10 for 200, $20 for 500) in the envelope enclosed with your monthly mailing.

Before closing this letter, I’d like to spend a little time on some general housekeeping. While the tracts are mailed free to you, please keep in mind we use God’s resources to purchase and ship them. We use the USPS Bulk mail service to keep our costs as low as possible. However, unlike first class mail, when mail is returned as undeliverable or forwarded due to change of address we receive a charge (up to $2.50 per envelope) from the post office. Please review the following and help us all be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us.
