Fall Outreaches

Tracts for outreaches

We have planned a number of outreaches this fall. We have designed several new Gospel tracts specifically for these events. When we go to an event we will open air preach, share the Gospel one on one and hand out Gospel tracts. When handing out Gospel tracts, we will offer the tract and ask “did you get one of these?” and hand them the tract. Sometimes people will say “that is ok, I’m good.” For those folks, we will say, “oh, you’re good, then I have something special for you.” This will cause them to stop and we will hand them an “are you a good person” tract! Please keep these events in your prayers. If you are in the Dallas area and would like to join us, then please contact us.

September 10th – Texas Rangers Outreach – We have approximately 4,000 Texas Rangers Trivia tracts left from our previous outreaches this year. We plan to hand those out as well as open air preach and share the Gospel one on one. We will leave Carrollton at noon, arrive at the ballpark by 1PM. The game starts at 3:10. We expect to wrap up ministry around 3:30 and be back in Carrollton around 4:30. Come join us if you can!

September 26th – Dallas Cowboys Outreach – The Dallas Cowboys home opener is Monday night verses the Washington Redskins. Expect large crowds. We have designed a bookmark tract with the team schedule and facts about the stadium on the front. The back features facts about eternity. We also have 5,000 Dallas Cowboys trivia tracts to distribute. Plan is to leave Carrollton at 4PM and be at the stadium from 5-8PM. Kickoff is at 7:30.

October 1st – Texas State Fair Outreach at the Fair Park DART Station – There will be a Basic Evangelism Training Seminar in the morning. As of the time of this writing the logistics for the training are not yet set. When they are, you’ll be able to register online so check back. The outreach will take place at the DART station at Fair Park outside of the entrance to the fair. We have two new tracts for this outreach. The first is a business card sized trivia tract asking people to name ten things fried at the fair. The second is a bookmark featuring a picture of the Texas Star and facts about the Texas Star on the front. On the back is the Gospel.

October 6, 7 & 9 – Texas State Fair Outreach at the booth inside the fair. We know people who will be using the evangelism booth inside the state fair on these dates. If you would like to join those groups please contact us. In addition, there is a group running the booth inside the fair every day of the fair. If you are able to go to witness at the fair any day it is open then please contact us and we can put you in touch with them.

October 27 – Dallas Stars Outreach – The Dallas Stars play a home game against the LA Kings. We have Dallas Stars trivia tracts to distribute. We will also open air preach and have one on one conversations. As the date approaches we will finalize the logistics and post them in the events calendar.

October 28 – TCU-BYU Outreach (Tentative) – This would be a great witnessing opportunity. It is tentative on the calendar for now.

Watch this blog or subscribe to the blast and witnessing events mailing lists to keep posted. You can also check the current schedule and logistics on the witnessing events calendar.

First Thursday for September

September 1st is the First Thursday of the month and that means we will be praying for our nation, leaders and revival. If you can’t make it on Thursday at noon to your city hall, please consider praying at your place of business instead or any tie throughout the weekend.

We use the ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) model of prayer. We suggest that for each letter a scripture passage be read and then one, more or all of the participants be given the opportunity to pray. This months suggested verses are:

  • Adoration: Ephesians 1:3-6
  • Confession: 1 John 1:9
  • Thanksgiving: 2 Corinthians 2:14-15
  • Supplication: Jeremiah 17:14-18

Please consider joining us at City Hall in Carrollton, TX at noon. Due to the extreme heat, we will be meeting in the City Manager’s conference room on the second floor of city hall. This is located “around behind” the city council chamber. We have a second group meeting at Hobi International. If you are planning to go there, then please contact Craig in advance to get on the security clearance list.

Complete information including a map and contact information is avilaable on the First Thursday Prayer page.

First Open Air

On Saturday, we went to the West End DART for an outreach. This was a follow-up to a Basic Evangelism Training Seminar that we had done last month and an opportunity to take some of the people from the seminar out on the streets to practice. After some tract distribution and one on one witnessing, I suggested we do some open air preaching. I went first and then Wally. We asked Clarence if he wanted to try it. He said yes. He started with a reading from Matthew 22 and then preached a wonderful message. I’m looking forward to going out to preach the Gospel with him again soon.

My battery ran out in my camera. Fortunately, Wally had his iPhone to record the rest…

Thoughts on the Drought

Seems like not a day (or even a few hours) goes by without someone commenting on how hot it is or how little rain we have had. My friend Todd emailed me some thoughts on the drought. He gave me permission to share those thoughts here:

Yesterday, during our bible study there was a request to pray for rain due to the drought we are experiencing in Texas and in other parts of the country. Interestingly enough, I was reading Jeremiah last night and came across a passage in Jeremiah 3:1-5 where God withheld the rain because of Israel’s spiritual harlotry which consisted of every sort of sin from idolatry to sexual immorality, etc.. These were the consequences of retributive judgment that the Lord had set into place many years before when God, through Moses said what He would do if His people broke His commandments. In Leviticus 26: 19, the Lord said, if you do not obey my commandments, “I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. ” If there is one thing about the Lord that we can be sure of, whether for good or judgment, God keeps His promises. He said what would happen if they disobeyed and sure enough, He brought judgment.

Well, I know you already know where this is leading. That’s right. We are a nation that has ripened for God’s judgment. Can you imagine the natural disasters that we have seen in this land recently. Storms, flooding, out of control fires, earth quakes, tornados, hurricanes, drought. The list goes on. I believe we are seeing God’s judgment on a nation that has for the most part turned away from God and His word. Look at how we have progressed from a nation that at one time for the most part feared the Lord. Started by a band of weary Immigrants; but they had one thing in common. They feared and sought the God of the bible. The nation’s foundation & constitution was written by men who feared the Lord. Most of the signers and framers were people who knew Christ and were dedicated to Him and His word. So what has happened? Well, just as every society has a tendency to do, this nation has become corrupted and perverse. This is one thing you can be sure about mankind; if you give him any length of time, without the Lord, he will become more and more perverted. We have also, like the Israelites before us, fraternized and adopted the Godless practices of the nations and cultures around the world. In the name of tolerance and pluralism, this nation has become a spiritual harlot, just as Israel had in the days of old. However, to acquiesce to spiritual adultery is man’s natural inclination and Sin is the culprit. Jeremiah 17:9,10 “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? I the Lord search the search the heart, I test the mind.”

Notice the progression. We have gone from a nation that once feared God, to a nation that began to deviate from the truth, to a nation that has become perverted. But I believe the capstone in this progression is when a nation’s government has gotten to a place where it
promotes and condones sin. We make laws that protect sinful behavior. If you’ve ever wondered if God’s word is timeless, see how something that was written in the word about 3000 years ago fits what we are experiencing today. Psalms 94:20 ” Shall the throne of iniquity which devises evil by law have fellowship with you? They gather together against the life of the righteous and condemn innocent blood.”

So what’s the answer? In a word, Jesus!!, Prayer!! People need to know Jesus because He is the only one who can change the human heart.

We can also pray as our Christian predecessors before us and ask God to forgive our sins and the sins of our nation. When you read the prayers of the saints of old, you will notice that they always included themselves amongst those who did not know the Lord when asking for
forgiveness and pleading for God’s mercy. I have left a few passages for examples. See: 2nd Chronicles 6:36-42, Isaiah 6:5, Nehemiah 1:4-11, Daniel 9: 15-19, and so on. On that note, please join with me in praying for God to forgive our sins and the sins of our nation.

“O’ Lord please have mercy upon us for we have sinned and have acted wickedly against you. Please forgive us Lord for sinning against you. Have Mercy on us O’ Lord . We pray that this nation would turn from its wicked ways. We pray that those who do not know You would repent. Rain down Your Holy Spirit Lord. Most importantly, may we turn back to You again so
that our souls may be watered and because of your great mercy can you water our parched land also.

Will you join us as we pray for our nation? Our First Thursday National Day of Prayer as part of the Pray, Learn, Go is an excellent way to get involved!

August Logistics

Next Thursday, August 4th, is the first Thursday of August. We will hold our first Thursday prayer meetings. If you are able to join us in Carrollton at City Hall at noon or at Hobi International, we are grateful. If you would like to have your own prayer meeting at City Hall elsewhere please let us know so we can add you to our map.

Using the ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) model of prayer, we suggest using the following verses this month.

(a) Matt 6:9 ” our Father in heaven (hallowed) or sanctified is your name. Just as a side note. Jesus, prays this prayer using the acts format. He is actually the founder of it. He starts his prayer with adoration, thanks & praise and ends it the same way!
(c) 2nd Chronicles 6:36-39
(t)2nd chronicles 7:1-3
(s) 2nd chronicles 6:40-42

Our recommended format is to start in prayer. Have someone read the first verse. Then everyone who wants to pray out loud prayers for adoration of God. Then proceed to the next verse.

If you can not make it on Thursday at noon, then we suggest that you pick any time during the rest of that weekend (Thursday thru Sunday) at your City Hall.

I would like to draw your attention to our new Pray, Learn, Go strategy. Pray (as part of First Thursday) is step one!

The power of prayer

On September 23, 1857, Jeremiah Lanphier, started a weekly prayer time in New York City. That first meeting had only a few people. I invite you to watch this video to see how that prayer group grew.

Would you join us for prayer for our nation, leaders and revival on the First Thursday of each month?

Roughriders

On Thursday night, ten of us braved the 106 degree heat to share the Gospel at the Frisco Roughriders game. Probably handed out about 1,000 tracts, hand a number of one on ones and Wally and I preached in the open air before the game started…

40 days of prayer wrap-up

On June 1st we started a 40 days of prayer for marriage. During that time we have had many prayer requested. Nearly 50 people joined the Facebook event praying for marriages. Due to the Blog post about this more joined in prayer.   We had a number of phone calls to the ministry from people searching for “prayer for marriage” on the Internet. We learned of more marriages that are hurting and in trouble during the 40 days of prayer. We added these marriages to our prayer list. We also saw some steps towards reconciliation in some marriages. We know that God can heal each and every one of these relationships. It takes a lot of work. Remember, marriage is a picture of the Gospel.  So as a ministry this is about   seeking and saving the lost (as Jesus was), we are also committed to praying for marriage because it is a picture of the Gospel.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. (Ephsians 5:25-28)

What’s next?

As we look at what’s next, here are some thoughts:

  1. We are committed to continue praying for reconciliation in marriages that are hurting. Those that we added to our prayer list, we will continue to pray for.
  2. We believe that 40-day prayer commitments are valuable.
  3. We would like to see another 40-days of prayer for marriage held this year and then at least two events held each year.
  4. We believe that organizing 40-days of prayer events for marriage is outside of the scope of the mission of Bezeugen Ministries.
  5. Therefore, we are praying that someone will step forward to lead the 40-days of prayer for marriage events in the future. If you are interested in that, please contact us.
Thank you for joining the 40 days of prayer for marriage!
