Christmas Tract idea

I had an encouraging note from one of our tract club members. She sent me the two images below with this note (and permission to share):

Hey there! I was at your seminar recently and just thought I would share what I did this Christmas after being inspired by your words. I photographed my daughter and then created these tract-like Christmas cards that we both sent out to family and friends as well as left all over town. I thought her cute face would at least cause people to read it. Lol I had several inquiries and questions regarding the gospel that followed from unbelieving friends. Thanks again for taking the time to speak with us. It was great meeting you and your wife  God bless you and all that you guys do!

To God be the Glory! Perhaps this will inspire others to do the same! Thanks for the idea and letting us share it!

First Thursday Prayer for March Logistics

Thursday, March 7th is the first Thursday of the month. We will have our monthly prayer meeting at Carrollton City Hall and at HOBI International in Dallas. If you do not live near one of our locations, then please prayerfully consider starting a prayer meeting at your City Hall on the first Thursday of each month. We gather to pray using the ACTS model of prayer. This months suggested verses are:

  • Adoration: Psalm 147:1-6
  • Confession: Job 42:1-6
  • Thanksgiving: Colossians 1:12-14
  • Supplication: Colossians 4:2-6

We have decided that this year, we will pray for our nation EVERY Thursday. While we will only gather at City Hall on the First Thursday of each month, we would encourage prayer for our nation every Thursday. A guide for Thursday prayer is here.

The 100 Challenge

While jogging during vacation between Christmas and the beginning of the new year, I believe the Lord impressed upon my heart that He wanted to see at least 100 Christians at a time, going door to door and preaching His gospel. I shared this with my brother in Christ, Carl and he upped the scope of the challenge by adding these points: Are there 100 people at a time who would be willing to go door to door? Are there 100 groups who would be willing? Are there 100 groups in 100 cities who would be willing? Are there 100 groups of 100 men and women in 100 cities who are willing to go door to door on a regular basis to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world?

I immediately began to question the Lord by saying; Lord, You can’t mean 100, much less this request? I have been witnessing in one way or another for over 12 years now and until 100-random-31712185-800-600just recently, I have never had more than about 16 people join me in a witnessing outreach. I began to doubt the Lord and reminded myself of a conversation that took place between Abraham and the Lord at Sodom and Gomorrah, as Abraham pleaded with the Lord over sparing any righteous ones from destruction. As you may know, according to Romans 3:10 “there is none righteous, no not one.” That is; there is none who are innately righteous. Therefore, Abraham must have been asking if there were any who could be made righteous because they would repent and believe in God and receive His imputed righteousness, but the Lord said there were none!

In a similar way, I believe that the Lord is asking us to challenge the body of Christ by asking if there are at least 100 Christians in at least 100 cities in this nation who by the blood of Jesus, have been made righteous; 10,000 Christians who would step up and step out on a regular basis to join the Lord in saving those who are lost, without Christ and the hope of eternal life? For an authentic believer and follower of Christ, we will not find any reasonable or valid reasons why we should not take this challenge for the glory of our great God, but I will tell you at least three good reasons why we should.

  1. The Lord has commanded us to do so! Yes, it was never just a request; it was and still is a command! See: Mathew 28:19. Not to mention, it has always been His highest priority. Jesus said, “ the Son of Man has come to seek and save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10. It was the whole reason for His going to the cross! If this was His most important mission and our desire is to please Him, why is it not our most important mission?
  2. Again, I believe that the Lord has impressed upon my heart that we have to do something to counteract the raging torrent of evil that plagues this nation, we Christians and our families today! If Jesus is the answer; why are we not boldly proclaiming Jesus? He is the only One who can start a revolution! He is the only one who can save a soul! He is the only one who can save a nation, a people and a world! We can no longer remain silent! We must tell the world about our great Savior and we must do it now! I truly believe, if we don’t take a stand against evil, we will soon be overcome by it! I can’t think of any better way to make a tremendous impact for Christ than to boldly proclaim Christ to this nation, before it is too late! Romans 12:21 “ Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.”
  3. Finally, brothers and sisters in Christ, I ask you; is He worthy of our adoration? Is He? Yes, He is more than worthy!! How then can we refuse to make Him known? His love compels us! He is our motivation! And our love for Him should destroy any fear that we may have of being rejected by man. The truth is, we are not the one being rejected anyway, He is; and I for one have decided that I am far more concerned that I may have words to speak to Jesus concerning the stewardship of His gospel, than will I ever have to any mere man!

In closing, we wanted to remind you of the simplicity of sharing the gospel by disclosing our latest approach. In the last 3 times going door to door; after knocking on the door or ringing the door bell, we will simply introduce ourselves and ask the homeowner if we can explain to them how much God loves them. If they decline, we ask if they will receive a tract. If not, we will move on knowing that it is always a good thing and never an inconvenience to share God’s love. However, 80% or so have allowed us to share the gospel. We will then recite John 3:16. If you can do that; you have successfully shared the gospel, glorified God and will experience great joy in doing so! We tell you this to remind you that you are very capable of doing what God has called us all to do! I also wanted to tell you that we are convinced that God will bring this challenge to fruition. As of 2-12-13, 18 groups around the country have already responded and decided to start door to door outreaches in their cities for Christ! We are praying that for the Lord’s sake you will also join us in this glorious endeavor! Are you one of the 100? If so, please contact Bezeugen Ministries.

All for Christ’ sake,
Todd Cormier / Carl Kalbfleisch

What do you say when you go door to door?

I was recently asked in an email, “what do you say when you go door to door?” Below is an expanded answer to what I emailed back.

I typically will use a three pronged approach. First is to collect food. Second is to gather prayer requests. Third is a spiritual inventory. Sometimes we leave off the first one. Sometimes we leave off the first two. The three pronged approach is very effective though. It starts int he natural, brings up the things of God in the prayer request and then leads right to the Gospel.

Sometimes we will ask for the prayer request and then say that we would be happy to pray with them right then. We say, “we are going to pray in Jesus name, do you know why we do that?” This is an open door to profess Christ. If they do, we pray. If not, we share the Gospel with them. This is a prayer evangelism technique that we learned from the Prayer Stop.

Sometimes we will just have some opening line, “Hi we are in the
neighborhood today taking a quick one question survey. The question is, if
it were 2AM and your house were on fire and I drove by and noticed, would
you want me to wake you from your sleep so you could get out of the
house?” This leads quickly to a Gospel conversation.

Typically when we get into sharing the Gospel we will use the bookmark and
a New Testament which is also on our new door hanger.

This video gives a quick (2.5 minute) intro.

When you are ready to adopt your city for Christ let me know and I’ll add
you to our map.

There is really no “right” way. Just obey the Lord’s command to go and make disciples. If you want to distribute door hangers, do that. If you want to knock and talk, then do that. But, do something! Go and make disciples! Door to door evangelism is an easy and effective way to reach the community with the Gospel.

Dallas County Community College Outreaches

Last Wednesday we began our spring semester of witnessing out Richland College in Dallas. We plan to have an outreach there every Wednesday this spring. The location is great for sharing the Gospel with the students. We hand out bottles of water, tracts, books, Bibles and other resources. Plus we get to have many one on one conversations with the students.

Our table at Richland College

Our table at Richland College

A little over three years ago, our group was spending one or two lunch hours per week Witnessing in local shopping malls. As we talked over lunch one day before doing some witnessing we thought about going to a local community college. I went by the college to check it out. As I walked around the campus I found a note about a Bible study pinned to a bulletin board. I connected with the leader of the study and he referred me to the Office of Student Life who provided me information on how to reserve the free speech area. I filed out the form to request the use of the free speech area. It took about ten days to get the request approved.

You always like to report that an outreach was a huge success and that many people received the Lord. However, as much as I’d like to report that, our first experience at Brookhaven College was pretty much of a flop. We were instructed that in order to use the free speech area we had to sit behind the table that was provided and we could only talk to those students that approached us. In an hour and a half, only a handful of students approached. Now, I don’t really consider it a flop because we did share the Gospel with some students. Christ was glorified. The Gospel was shared.

On top of that, we learned a valuable lesson that day. If you’re gonna go fishing, you need to bring bait.

When we went back to work that first day, we probably were disappointed that we did not get to talk to more of the students. But the lesson about bait was huge. We prayed and talked and the idea struck us. Free Water! That would be the bait. My wife went to FedEx/Kinko’s and ordered a five foot by 2 foot vinyl sign that said “FREE WATER” in big letters on the front. We went to Costco and bought a couple cases of water bottles. We reserved the free speech area again. This time we set up the table with the free water on it hung the sign in front of the table and we sat down behind the table as we were instructed.

The fish swam right up to the boat! Before long more students were coming up to us than we could talk to. We gave them free water along with a Gospel tract. They were asking great questions about eternity. We were sharing the Gospel with those that would stop long enough to talk to us. We have seen students repent and believe the Gospel right there by our table. We have made a couple of new signs that are easier to display, but still have the “FREE WATER” message. Our location is in a main passage way as students change between classes.

Over the years, the school has become less restrictive with us and they don’t enforce us staying behind the table now. In our time there, we have given out thousands of tracts. We even developed a Free Water tract to hand out with the water. Some months we will bring a special item to give away. We have given out Mark Cahill books and booklets, 180 Movies, Why Christianity booklets, New Testaments with our Bible bookmark and many other items.

It is impossible to recount every conversation, every face, every person that we have talked to. But, there are some that stay in your mind. On the day that we were handing out the New Testaments with the Bible bookmark, I had a chance to take a student through the ten Bible verses and ten questions on the back of the bookmark. He had never read a Bible before and was very interested in it. When we got to the last question and verse he said that he had repented and trusted Christ for salvation!

The Dallas County Community College system has seven campuses. So earlier this year we decided to start branching out to some of the other campuses. We picked two additional campuses and made “recon trips” to them. On those trips we were able to find the Office of Student Life and connect with the people in charge there. It is interesting that the three schools that we are working with all have different policies on how to reserve space for the outreach.

At Richland College we are able to reserve a space inside of the building where the Cafeteria is located. This is a great spot since the students are on their way to and from lunch. At North Lake College the location is outside and a little more out of the way of the traffic flow, but even on a slow day we still handed out 50 bottles of water in an hour.

As we move forward we plan to go to each of the three campuses at least one time per month. We are now getting acquainted with more of the students. We are able to build some relationships as we often see the same students month after month. We are also working on getting students involved in our outreaches. At our last outreach at Brookhaven we had two students helping us share the Gospel.

We have found that these college campuses are great venues for sharing the Gospel. I encourage you to check out the college campuses in your area. Many of them have strict policies regarding free speech. Other campuses are wide open to the Gospel. You might need to go to the campus and ask around to find out. Or just “go” and ask for forgiveness if they tell you that you can’t do what you are doing.

For more information on our college outreaches see the college category of this BLOG.

Thursday Prayer for our Nation

We have decided that this year, we will pray for our nation EVERY Thursday. While we will only gather at City Hall on the First Thursday of each month, we would encourage prayer for our nation every Thursday. Will you join us? Here is an email with the background and some suggested prayer points:

I recently sent an email titled, “A Nation that has forgotten God”, the day after the election. But after sending it, I thought what I should have titled it is,  ”There is still hope for a Nation
that has forgotten God.” There is always hope because our great God is sovereign. Even when we see tragedy after tragedy such as what happened on last Friday when 20 children and 6
adults were murdered, there is still hope! I believe we are experiencing the consequences of a Nation whose majority and it’s leaders have forsaken the only true God and His Son, Jesus
Christ! I believe, the Lord is removing His protection and we are being judged by our sin and rebellion against Him. Please read Jeremiah, chapters 1-5 and notice how God’s chastening and
punishment against the Nation of Israel parallels what is taking place before our very eyes because of this Nation’s all out rebellion against the Lord. Murder, sexual immorality, idolatry,
theft, you name it and it is being practiced. I wonder if the Lord has just about reached His threshold with us and there is no human remedy for this problem. How could there be, because our sin against God is the problem. It is a spiritual problem. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world. See: Ephesians 6:10-14.
And don’t you love how the media will blame anything other than the root of our problem which is sin. Rather than recognize our rejection of God and our rebellion against Him, they prefer to place the blame on anything other than our own moral depravity. And in the case of this most recent massacre
the media has even chosen to make an inanimate object the culprit. Wow! Are firearms really our problem? It is terribly tragic that the lives of 20 innocent children were taken and appalling that  thousands of children’s lives are taken every year and none of these media personalities, our president, the leadership of our government or the majority of our population is looking for the real solution to that problem. Why would they? To the contrary, in addition to many other atrocities; they condone, help fund and protect the murder of innocent children by law. How accurate is God’s word when in Psalms 94:20,21
it says, “Shall the throne of iniquity which devises evil by law have fellowship with you? They gather together against the life of the righteous and condemn innocent blood.” Do you think it has ever crossed their minds that our sin against God and the gross disregard for human life might encourage an event like what happened on Friday? I can only conclude that the majority of our nation has been completely deceived and blinded by sin! See Jn 9:39-41 Oh’ the hypocrisy of it all!
So what are we to do? You know the answer. We have to seek the Lord’s face and plead with Him to help us and we have to do it now! We need to join with the prophets and Godly men of all ages and call upon Him to help us! Read of the prayers of Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Solomon, Hezekiah, Jehoshaphat and so on. We need to fast and pray to our God to deliver us. Therefore, I am calling upon you as brothers and sisters in Christ to join Deb & I in asking the Lord to save our nation. We will set aside every Thursday of each week to seek the Lord’s face. You may pray and fast as the Lord leads.
I have thought of at least 6 different prayers we can ask of the Lord:
  • That the body of Christ would confess it’s sins and walk in holiness before the Lord. See: 1st Peter 4:17, Psalms 66:18 As Christians, we do not want our prayers to be hindered because of unconfessed sin and a lack of repentance in our own lives.
  • That the Lord would raise up believers to intercede for and seek the lost, just as Christ did. See: Matt 18:11
  • That the Lord would be glorified in His Body, the church! See: Ephesians 4:25,26
  • That the Lord would convict the nation of it’s sins and bring them to repentance and faith in Christ! See: John 16:8
  • That the Lord would forgive the sins of our Leaders and this nation as a whole. See: 2nd Chronicles 7:14
  • That there would be a revival that would sweep the nation and that we would glorify God with our lives and that we would receive His blessing once again! Zephaniah 3:17
If you would like to commit to joining us in this ministry to our Lord, please use the manage your constant contact settings to subscribe to the First Thursday prayer list.  We would also like to hear your comments about things that the Lord would put on your heart. Please also send this message to anyone in the body of Christ. There is power in numbers and the Lord will hear our prayers, answer our petitions and heal our land so that He may be glorified in this nation once again!

Adopt a City for Christ

Will you join us as we SPREAD the Gospel? In 2009, I started going door to door in the city of Carrollton, TX. Since then we have been to around 3,000 doors in this city. We have also supplied door hangers to about 30 groups to get started in their city. I don’t have record if those cities are still going regularly or not.  A few months ago, Todd, started a group going door to door in Denton, TX. We are working on regular Saturday schedules each month to do door to door evangelism in Carrollton and Denton. We call this Carrollton for Christ and Denton for Christ respectively. This is all part of our Pray, Learn, Go strategy. We also have an acronym, SPREAD, for this door to door campaign. That is SPREAD as in a fire!

  •  S  trategize      / Have a plan to map out and pray before going to each street, before and after our mission.
  • P  ray                 / Plead and pray hard to the Lord for the souls that we will be speaking to before and after our encounters.
  • R  ally                / Come together and ask the Lord to bring workers into His harvest.
  • E  quip              / Teach the abc’s about presenting the gospel and have on the job training for our fellow evangelists.
  • A ctivate          / Go for it! We must be instruments for our Lord to preach the gospel! Time is short, let’s redeem it!
  • D illigence      / We must stay committed to our mission. This is not temporary intervention. Our Commander and Chief, the Lord Jesus has commissioned us!

I am praying that our efforts will not sweep just Carrollton & Denton for Christ but the nation and the world! This is a model that can be utilized in every city for the cause of Christ! Will you “adopt a city for Christ”? How about your city? Will you commit to going to each door in your city and sharing the Gospel?

Will you join us as we S.P.R.E.A.D. the Gospel door to door? We have developed a new door hanger for us in the door to door ministry. We will make these available to order directly from our printer, or in quantities of 100 with a donation to the ministry to cover our costs. Are you interested? The new door hanger is based on our bookmark tract and also offers a free booklet which we are making available.

You can preview the new door hanger below.

Front of Door Hanger

Will you join us?

Will you adopt your city to share the Gospel door to door?

We simply ask you to pray about joining us. Thursday, January 3rd is the First Thursday of the month (and year). We will have our First Thursday prayer meeting. You can use this time to pray for our nation, leaders and revival. Also pray for direction and for God to raise up workers in your city.

The next part is to learn. We have a simple and effective approach to door to door evangelism. You can check out the video training.

Third is to Go! Will you commit one Saturday morning per month to going door to door to share the Gospel? Set a schedule and then GO! We typically meet for breakfast, fellowship and prayer around 8AM and then go knock on doors starting at 9AM.

Will you adopt your city for Christ? We previously have supplied door hangers to over 30 cities across the US and Canada. I will be contacting these people to see if they have interest in this.

If you are interested in participating, then please contact us.
