February is often equated with Valentine’s Day. Our popular Valentine’s themed John 3:16 tract is enclosed. The world today tells us that “Love is Love”. But is it? More importantly, is that Biblical. An excerpt from a BLOG at Living Hope Bible Church reads:

But should followers of Christ use the phrase “love is love”?  I believe the answer is clearly, “no.”  Let me suggest just two reasons.

First, “love is love” suggests that love is self-defining, that it cannot be qualified and simply is.  This would make love somehow self-existent and foundational – something like, “Love is what it is and you cannot question it.”  Love is certainly a primal and powerful reality.  But self-defining it is not.

There’s a second reason Christians shouldn’t accept or use the phrase “love is love.”  Very simply, the phrase is generally used to condone LGBT lifestyles.  But Scripture unequivocally condemns homosexuality.  The apostle Paul wrote, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Cor. 6:9 – 10)

So to use the phrase “love is love”, knowing that it is generally used to promote and celebrate LGBT experience, is to call good what God has called bad, to justify what God judges, to affirm what God abhors.  The prophet Isaiah said, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20)!

Happy New Year! Baseball is between seasons. Football is wrapping up with college bowl games, college football playoffs, and the NFL playoffs. Hockey and Basketball are at about mid-season. What do these athletes do in the “off season”? Generally they continue to work out so that they can be at their top performance for the next season.

The Bible says we are to preach the word. When? Both “in season” and “out of season”. That means there really is no “off season” for Christians. Notice also in 2 Timothy 4:2, we are called to be ready. Not only that but we are to do all that to “reprove, rebuke and exhort”. How?  With complete patience and teaching. WOW! That’s a lot packed into one verse. Let’s see what some of these words mean. According to Mirriam-Webster:

· Reprove: to scold or correct usually gently or with kindly intent

· Rebuke: to criticize sharply

· Exhort: to incite by argument or advice : urge strongly

· Patience: the capacity, habit, or fact of being patient (bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint)

· Teaching: the act, practice, or profession of a teacher (to cause to know something )

Gospel tracts can help do all of that. By starting in the natural and swinging to the spiritual we can capture someone’s interest. Then leading them into the Ten Commandments we have the opportunity to reprove and rebuke their thoughts and actions. Notice this is done lovingly and patiently not pointing a finger, but by asking them to self examine where they stand with God.

Finally that leads to teaching. Starting with the Gospel we can teach them that 2000 years ago Jesus, the second member of the Godhead, was incarnate and made his dwelling among us. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. All who repent and believe this good news (the Gospel) will be saved!

This month was are including the 21 Day Challenge. Many people make New Year Resolutions. Those who do, rarely keep them even till the end of January. The 21 Day Challenge is to read the Gospel of John one chapter a day for 21 days. Less time than most would try to keep a New Year Resolution. Why John? Because “these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.“ (John 20:31). Perhaps someone you meet will agree to take the challenge and meet you once a week to talk about what they are reading. Maybe you could invite them to join you for coffee. As they learn you might invite them to church or a Bible study! A new friendship might develop. An atheist I had met years ago agreed to the challenge and eventually he was Born Again!

We are excited to share some new tract designs with you in the next few mailings. Be diligent in sharing the Gospel “as you go”. Make it a practice to do so everyday! Not legalistically, but out of obedience to God and love for the lost whom Jesus came to seek and save (Luke 19:10).

There is an image we use in our Basic Evangelism Training Seminar (available online on our YouTube and Rumble social media) with a look of panic and the caption “oh no, not evangelism!”. When you hear that what goes through your mind? Is it panic? Fear? Not knowing what to say or do? Do you envision being asked to preach the Gospel in front of thousands of people like Billy Graham?

Well, sharing the Gospel can be scary. Let’s not deny that. But more often than not, as a member of the Bezeugen Tract Club you are probably handing a  tract to a cashier or someone in line and asking a simple question “did you get one of these?” It might be leaving a tract on a table or at a gas pump. There should be nothing scary about that.

This time of year it seems like everyone, not just Christian’s, are thinking about Christmas. While Christmas has become largely secular in society we find that people celebrate because they enjoy the lights, gifts, and getting together with family and friends. We have come to find that this makes Christmas time the easiest time of the year to share the Gospel.

You can say “Merry Christmas” and hand someone a tract. Most people will take the tract and either say “thanks” or “Merry Christmas” back to you.

Or you can easily get into a conversation with someone by asking them if they celebrate Christmas. Since we know that most people regardless of their religion do, they will probably say “Yes”. So then the follow up question is to ask them why they celebrate. Is it for the lights, the gifts, time with family and friends, or some “deeper” meaning?  Wait and see what they say. If the answer is anything other than to celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, then you have an open door to share with them the true meaning of Christmas. I’ll simply ask people if I can tell them what Christmas is all about. Remember, like Linus does in Charlie Brown Christmas.

Matthew 28:19-20

Matthew 28:19-20 is the theme of Bezeugen Ministries. Simply put “As You Go”. As we discuss in our Basic Evangelism Training Seminar (available on our Rumble and YouTube), the command is not actually to go, but to make—make disciples. Jesus assumes and implies that we are already going somewhere. Maybe you are going to work, or school, or to the store. As you do, make disciples! The first step is to introduce them to Jesus. We find Gospel tracts are an effective way to do that.

Imagine the impact of referring a friend to join the Bezeugen Tract Club. They would start receiving 30 FREE Gospel tracts per month. That’s 360 tracts per year. But what’s even more thrilling is the 360 souls who could be reached with the Gospel. What if you referred 10 people? That would be 3600 people per year receiving the Gospel.

Recently one of our tract club members sent a donation to cover the materials for 100 envelopes per month for a year. Another member, Michelle Lesley posted a story on her BLOG of how her twelve year old son overcame his fear and harassment of an atheist girl to share Gospel tracts with her. In the post she encourages others to overcome their fear and share the Gospel. She provided a link to the Bezeugen Tract Club. Over 100 people enrolled in the Bezeugen Tract Club in the day following that post! To those of you who responded, welcome!

Now it’s your turn. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He gave the great commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. So many people call themselves Christian’s. Yet according to Bill Bright less than 3% of professing Christian’s share the Gospel. We are trying to change that. So, please encourage your friends to join the Bezeugen Tract Club. Want ideas on how to share the Gospel? Do you know that each day on our Social Media there is a daily tract challenge. These challenges encourage sharing the Gospel in some particular way. When we look around our country today we see problems, confusion, mental illness. More government and taxes is not the answer. The Gospel is! Let’s be diligent at reaching the lost.

We are also including the Cancer Awareness tract this month. Many organizations remember cancer awareness in October. This tract is meaningful to me as a number of personal friends and tract club members have been impacted by cancer. As I wrote on the BLOG,

“When I spoke to Randy a few days after his diagnosis with brain cancer I told him that I had been planning to call him to see if he wanted to go share the Gospel at the Dallas Mavericks game the next week. His response was “I’m not going to let brain cancer stop me from sharing the Gospel.” A week later, I picked him up at his house after work and he and I went to Dallas and handed out 100’s of Gospel tracts to people going to the basketball game.“

God called Randy home. Through his funeral and testimony people were saved. How many more were saved as a result of his sharing the Gospel at the basketball game that night, or while witnessing to people caring for him?

Sin is like a cancer leading to death. The only cure is to repent and believe the Gospel!

This is the 180th mailing of the Bezeugen Tract Club. That means it is the last mailing to complete Fifteen years of mailings! Milestones are great. But there are still people to reach. So please keep being bold and share the Gospel.

Football or baseball? Which one do you like better? Which one do your friends like better? What about people you meet? Do you see a lot of people wearing the jersey’s, t-shirts or hats of a favorite team? Chances are they like that sport. Yes, there are exceptions where people say something like “I know someone who knows the quarterback”, but in my experience those examples are few and far behind.

According to a blog post online the three most popular sports in America are Football (74.5%), Basketball (56.6%), and Baseball (50.5%). With that in mind, Football and Baseball are both in full swing in September. The baseball season is winding down and headed towards the playoffs. The football seasons for college and pro are both heating up with seemingly every team’s fans thinking “this is the year” that we will win the championship.

 We have included two trivia tracts this month. One for football and one for baseball. Don’t just ask someone if they want one. We suggest posing the question as “which sport do you like more, football or baseball?” Then give them the trivia tract that aligns to their answer. Based on the statistics named above, more people should say football, but that might depend on the sample size.

Now you might be thinking, what if they ask me about the questions. Or better yet, what if you engage them in a conversation and ask them the questions. Now I can feel the fear coming over you as you think you don’t know anything about football or baseball, especially when it comes to trivia!

Well, don’t worry. We have mentioned in these letters in the past that all of our trivia tracts have the same back. Keeping in mind that the answers are multiple choice, that means (you guessed it) the answers are the same regardless of which tract you hand out. Therefore you can confidently ask question one call out the answers and then wait for their answer. Since the answer to question one is always A, you already would know if they are right without even looking on the back. This really comes in handy when you realize that by donation you can request other trivia tracts including baseketball, NASCAR, Indy Car, Soccer and Rock N Roll. So have no fear. Ask the questions!

The last question allows you to segway to the Gospel.

For kids we have included the “Play by the Rules” Gospel tract. Many children will be starting soccer or football practice this time of year. These tracts are an easy way to convey to them that we must play by the rules in order to compete fairly and have a determined outcome.

As adults we think more of rules in the work place like “show up to work on time” or “complete your time sheet”. Or laws that govern the speed limit. In Texas alone in 2023 the legislature proposed 800-1000 new bills. Some died in committee, but some have become new laws. The strange thing is that many of us don’t even know what these laws are and hence we might even be braking them.

God started with one rule “of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17). They are a mirror to show us our sin and hence our need for a savior—the Savior – Jesus Christ.

You can start by asking “did you get one of these?” When they ask what it is tell them “it is a Gospel tract with the Ten Commandments” on it. Then follow up asking if they know any of the Ten Commandments and finally if they think they have kept them. Using this “mirror” God will show them their sin. Pray that this leads to conviction and repentance.

We put a BLOG post online with some video resources to learn the Ten Commandments. One video even shows a child reciting the Ten Commandments in order in under 20 seconds. If a child can do it, so can you.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica,

truth, in metaphysics and the philosophy of language, the property of sentences, assertions, beliefs, thoughts, or propositions that are said, in ordinary discourse, to agree with the facts or to state what is the case.

Truth is the aim of belief; falsity is a fault. People need the truth about the world in order to thrive. Truth is important. Believing what is not true is apt to spoil people’s plans and may even cost them their lives. Telling what is not true may result in legal and social penalties. Conversely, a dedicated pursuit of truth characterizes the good scientist, the good historian, and the good detective.

Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

In 2011 we wrote the booklet “The Truth May Impact Your Opinion”. You can read it online or listen to the audio. When we wrote this booklet, the intent was to point people to the truth of who Jesus is. Some people say he is fictitious. Some say a prophet, or a good man. But the Old Testament says Jesus is God. The New Testament agrees. And Jesus himself claims to be God.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. “ (John 14:6)

In twelve years since writing that booklet, our society is getting further and further away from truth. While we wrote the booklet to point people to the truth of who Jesus is, society is now redefining all kind’s of other truth’s. In George Orwell’s 1984 the people are taught to recite 2+2=5 until they eventually believe it.  DBpedia put’s it this way:

“Two plus two equals five” (2 + 2 = 5) is a mathematically incorrect phrase used in the 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It appears as a possible statement of Ingsoc (English Socialism) philosophy, like the dogma “War is Peace”, which the Party expects the citizens of Oceania to believe is true.

Repeating a lie over and over again doesn’t make it true. If someone believes they are a cat or dog doesn’t make it true. In fact what anyone believes or feels does not dictate truth.  Biblically and scientifically, truth is based on fact! Someone might say, “what does it matter if I believe 2+2=5” or “what do you care if I identify as a cat”. Well, if a shop owner believes 2+2=5 and you buy two $2 items you’ll be charged an extra dollar. Would you shop there, or at the place down the street that bases their arithmetic on fact? Cats have nine lives, right? LOL! That’s just a saying. So identifying as a cat doesn’t give you the ability to purr or have eight more lives! We should strive to live in a world based in truth. The most loving thing we can do is tell people the truth about God. God created them male and female. That is Biblical and scientific truth! It doesn’t matter what a person believes. It only matters what is true.

Uncle Sam— The Ten Commandments are a mirror to point our sin and the need for the savior, Jesus Christ. James Montgomery Flagg’s famous, “I want you for U.S. Army” poster is an interesting illustration of this since instead of hiring a model, he used a mirror, drew the picture of himself and then made himself look older. We often say to start a conversation in the “natural” and then swing to the “spiritual”. You can use this interesting fact to do that. This tract is also available as a Million Dollar Bill for your July 4th outreaches.

Tetelestai—It is finished! It is estimated there are more than 4,200 religions in the world. Religion is man trying to earn favor with a Holy God. It is simply impossible to please God on our own. No one can ever be good enough because we have all sinned and fall short of his glory. Jesus stated “it is finished” or Tetelestai. Read Mark 16:15 in your Bible, or in the box above. Jesus is issuing a clear command to all believers to go into the world and preach the Gospel. There is no asterisk excusing some. This is not a command only to pastors. It’s not even a call to those with the “gift of Evangelism”.

A simple way to share the Gospel is using tracts. The Courageous Christian Father BLOG has an article “10 Benefits of handing out Gospel tracts” that has the following list:

1. It can proclaim the gospel and can plant a seed.

2. They can go places you cannot go and places you can. Often they may be passed on and on to others.

3. It can help break the ice and make conversation starters. These often can be great gateways to presenting the gospel.

4. It doesn’t take much to hand them out. You can hand them out to everyone you come in contact with.

5. Easy to store and keep handy. (See Gospel Tract Box Image on this blog post.

6. You can leave them in random spots too.

7. Usually inexpensive to do your own or get printed. Business card sizes work great.

8. A gospel tract can allow the reader to refer to it again for Bible references and follow up.

9. Gospel tracts can be sent in the mail with your letters, bills, packages, etc.

10. They can often do the witnessing when we can’t.

Are You a Good Person—this is one of the most popular tracts. They are fun to hand out and ask people if they are good enough to go to Heaven. It’s fun to see their face when the little guy doesn’t change color. Then ask if they pressed hard enough, or counted exactly eight seconds. Sometimes they will try again. After a little laugh go to the Gospel. Explain no one is good based on the Ten Commandments.

iPhone texting tract— We have handed out tracts at many events over the years including the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals. If you just hand someone a tract as they walk by sometimes you’ll hear them ask “what is it?”. This tract answers the questions and then provides the Gospel on the back.

Are You Ready—Ten out of Ten people die. Are you ready? Most people are more prepared for dinner or a vacation than they are to step out of this life and into eternity. The toe tag is a jolt to get people to think about where they will spend eternity.

Blessed is the Nation—Flag Day is June 14th. It commemorates June 14, 1777 when the United States Flag was adopted by the second Continental Congress. This tract and the accompanied bookmark are patriotic in nature, but also a reminder that God’s blessing is dependent on Him being the Lord of that person and country.
