First Thursday Prayer – February 2019

Each month since May 2010 we have taken the first Thursday of the month to stop and pray for our nation, leaders and revival. Today our Nation observes a national day of mourning for President George H.W. Bush. Pray that this will bring healing and unity to our nation. The one constant is that the Gospel of Jesus has the ability to change the way people think and act! In short: Jesus is the answer. We need prayer! We currently have THREE locations:

  • Carrollton City Hall – Will meet on Thursday, February 7th at noon.
  • HOBI International, Dallas – will meet on Thursday, February 7th at noon

In Carrollton, meet by the flag poles in front of City Hall at noon.  Prayer is from noon to 12:30. In case of rain we will move under the stairs by the entrance to the city hall. Weather permitting, I typically arrive early and eat lunch by the flag poles. So if you are able, come early and join me.

In Dallas we meet at HOBI International (7601 Ambassador Dr, Dallas). Security access to the building is required. If you plan to attend that meeting, please contact Craig Boswell in advance. Prayer this month is from noon to 12:30PM. If you are coming, please arrive early to clear security. As a reminder, this month the meeting is Wednesday, October 3rd.

In Rockwall prayer is on the second Sunday of each month at Rockwall Bible Church (http://www.rockwallbible.org) from 7-8PM. This month it is February 10th.

The suggested ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) verses this month are:

Adoration

O Lord , our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
Psalms 8:1 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.8.1.ESV

Confession

If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow; he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts. Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies. He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made. His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends.
Psalms 7:12‭-‬16 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.7.12-16.ESV

Thanksgiving

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord , the Most High.
Psalms 7:17 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.7.17.ESV

Supplication

On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.

Psalms 62:7-8 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.62.7-8.ESV

If you are unable to attend in person, we hope you’ll take time from your busy schedule to pray for our nation, leaders and revival in our churches.

Free Solo

We went to see the movie Free Solo. I am still processing the movie in my mind. The movie documents the first solo free climb up El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Truly an amazing human achievement. There is a  contrast between the sheer size of the mountain and the tiniest bump on the face of the rock that Alex is able to use as the literal foothold between success and failure—falling to his death. There is even a reference to having to be “perfect” to succeed. And I figure there must be a transition to the Gospel in there somewhere! So don’t be surprised if some tract comes from this.

In 2018, Bezeugen Ministries distributed more than 700,000 Gospel tracts.  By the end of 2018 the ministry has distributed over 5.9 million tracts.  That’s more than the population of every US city, except one—New York.  But while we can easily be impressed with big numbers like how tall a mountain is, we also need to pay attention to the details of the one soul that God wants to touch with each and every tract.

Get Into the Word in 2019

Happy New Year!

The new tract in the Bezeugen Tract Club mailing is a new design of the Twenty-One Day challenge with a 2019 theme! This tract is a powerful way to introduce people you share the Gospel with to reading the Bible. It gets them in a habit of reading the Bible a chapter a day. As you hand out the tract invite the person you hand it to to join the 21 day challenge to read the Gospel of John. Take the challenge with them, then meet them for coffee or lunch weekly or when the challenge is over to talk about what they have learned! You can find the links to read, listen to or watch the Gospel of John online at the After Life Catalog site.

When I added the video to the 21 day challenge web site I started watching the Gospel of John each day. One day I was on the elliptical at the recreation center watching the video for John 16. When the video ended the auto-play started playing a sermon. Since I was nearing the end of my workout, I let it play and really got into the sermon to the point where I listened to the rest of it on my way to work, then listened to the rest of John over that following weekend. I later started looking into who I was listening to and found it is Skip Heitzig from Calvary Chapel Albuquerque. I’ve been truly blessed by his teaching. To go deeper, you may like to check out the series on John.

As I learned more about Skip Heitzig I found that he has a book, workbook and sermon series as an overview of the Bible called “The Bible from 30,000 Feet”. I find that many in the church and especially those new to the Bible don’t have a good high level understand of what the Bible is about. This material can help change that. Perhaps you’d like a better overview understanding of the Bible. Then you may like to check out the book. Or perhaps you like to listen to sermons, then this may be a good opportunity to jump in and listen to an overview of the Bible – from 30,000 feet. The series can be found online here. Since these are being presented as the current Wednesday series, we will also start posting them to the Pray Learn Go Facebook page each Wednesday.

Finally, we encourage you to be in the Word every day. Jesus says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) Feed your soul by reading His Word every day. Getting into the Word daily also helps with personal witnessing. The more familiar you are with His Word the more you can quote it, know it and witness to people. How about committing to read the Bible every day this year! If you’d like to join us we will be posting a reading plan to take you through the Bible on the Pray Learn Go Facebook Page. You can also find a number of other reading plans online or in the YouVersion Bible App.

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:1-2)

Confession

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:19-23)

Thanksgiving

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds. (Psalm 57:9-10)

Supplication

Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:5-7)

If you are unable to attend in person, we hope you’ll take time from your busy schedule to pray for our nation, leaders and revival in our churches.

2018 Year End Matching Fund

Update: December 31, 2018 – Thank you for helping us reach our 2018 matching fund! While the match has been made, please prayerfully consider donating today!

One of our donors has offered to match up to $2,018 in donations from now until the end of the year. That means that for each dollar you donate to Bezeugen Ministries through December 31st will be doubled. Please prayerfully consider supporting the work the Lord is doing through Bezeugen Ministries.

It costs roughly $20 per year to send 30 FREE Gospel tracts per month to each member. Donate $10 today and with the match it would cover your own membership. Or perhaps you could cover the whole amount of your membership with at least a $20 donation. Then the match would cover a second member! Is the Lord leading you to donate $100 and cover your membership plus four more and then with the match cover five more memberships for a total of 10 members? Pray about it. Let the Lord lead you!

In 2017 Bezeugen celebrated it’s tenth year in ministry. To commemorate the occasion we released a ten year anniversary booklet with a history of the ministry as well as testimonials from you, our tract club members, with how the ministry and tract club have impacted you personally. We have some copies of this booklet on hand. While supplies last with a donation of at least $50 you’ll receive a copy of this booklet. To select follow this link to donate and put “Booklet” in the memo.

Finally, we have a few tract Rolodex’s on hand. The tract Rolodex holds 100 tracts and comes loaded with a supply of a selection of Bezeugen tracts. For a minimum donation of $75 you’ll receive the tenth anniversary booklet and a tract Rolodex (while supplies last). To select follow this link to donate and put “Rolodex” in the memo.

First Thursday Prayer – November 2018

Tomorrow, November 1st, is the First Thursday of the month. We will meet in Carrollton and Dallas for prayer. In Rockwall there will be prayer on the normal second Sunday, November 11th. Each month since May 2010 we have taken the first Thursday of the month to stop and pray for our nation, leaders and revival. This month is no exception. The mid-term elections are less than a week away. There are many issues impacting our nation. The one constant is that the Gospel of Jesus has the ability to change the way people think and act! In short: Jesus is the answer. We need prayer! We currently have THREE locations:

  • Carrollton City Hall – Will meet on Thursday, November 1st at noon.
  • HOBI International, Dallas – will meet on Thursday, November 1st at 11AM
  • Rockwall – meets on the second Sunday of each month – October 14th

In Carrollton, meet by the flag poles in front of City Hall at noon.  Prayer is from noon to 12:30. In case of rain we will move under the stairs by the entrance to the city hall. Weather permitting, I typically arrive early and eat lunch by the flag poles. So if you are able, come early and join me.

In Rockwall prayer is on the second Sunday of each month at Rockwall Bible Church (http://www.rockwallbible.org) from 7-8PM. This month it is November 11th.

I recently came across a Bible teacher I was not previously familiar with. I was watching the Gospel of John on YouTube. The movie is broken up by chapter. After chapter 16 of the movie played auto play forwarded to a sermon. I was on the elliptical at the rec center and before I had a chance to select something else within just a few minutes I was captivated by this man’s teaching on John 16. So much so that I not only listened to the rest of that sermon, but from there to the rest of John. I have since done some additional research into who he is. Skip Heitzig is the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque. His teachings are excellent. I just finished listening to his sermon series titled The Disciples Prayer a teaching on what we typically call the Lord’s prayer. If you have some time, I’d encourage you to check this out as I was incredibly blessed by listening. You can find the series online here.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen

In light of the, the suggested ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) are:

Adoration

 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name. (Matthew 6:9)

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. (1 Chronicles 29:11)

Confession

forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. (Matthew 6:12)

 Thanksgiving

Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)

Supplication

Give us this day our daily bread,

13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. (Matthew 6:11, 13)

If you are unable to attend in person, we hope you’ll take time from your busy schedule to pray for our nation, leaders and revival in our churches.

First Thursday Prayer – October 2018

Each month since May 2010 we have taken the first Thursday of the month to stop and pray for our nation, leaders and revival. This month is no exception. The mid-term electons are a month away. The FBI and Senate are involved in Supreme Court Nomination proceedings. And even locally in Carrollton last week two men got into an argument at a JV football game and one of them shot the other. In a word, Jesus is the answer. We need prayer! We currently have THREE locations:

  • Carrollton City Hall – Will meet on Thursday, October 4th.
  • HOBI International, Dallas – will meet on Wednesday, October 3rd.
  • Rockwall – meets on the second Sunday of each month – October 14th

In Carrollton, meet by the flag poles in front of City Hall at noon.  Prayer is from noon to 12:30. In case of rain we will move under the stairs by the entrance to the city hall. Weather permitting I typically arrive early and eat lunch by the flag poles. So if you are able, come early and join me.

In Dallas we meet at HOBI International (7601 Ambassador Dr, Dallas). Security access to the building is required. If you plan to attend that meeting, please contact Craig Boswell in advance. Prayer is from noon to 12:30. If you are coming, please arrive early to clear security. As a reminder, this month the meeting is Wednesday, October 3rd.

In Rockwall prayer is on the second Sunday of each month at Rockwall Bible Church (http://www.rockwallbible.org) from 7-8PM. This month it is October 14th.

The suggested ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) are:.

Adoration

I waited patiently for the Lord;
    he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
    out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
    making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
    a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
    and put their trust in the Lord.. (Psalm 40:1-3)

Confession

Blessed is the man who makes
    the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
    to those who go astray after a lie!
You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
    your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
    none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them,
    yet they are more than can be told.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,
    but you have given me an open ear.[a]
Burnt offering and sin offering
    you have not required.
Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
    in the scroll of the book it is written of me:
I delight to do your will, O my God;
    your law is within my heart.”

(Psalm 40:4-8)

Thanksgiving

I have told the glad news of deliverance[b]
    in the great congregation;
behold, I have not restrained my lips,
    as you know, O Lord.
10 I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart;
    I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;
I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness
    from the great congregation.

11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain
    your mercy from me;
your steadfast love and your faithfulness will
    ever preserve me!
12 For evils have encompassed me
    beyond number;
my iniquities have overtaken me,
    and I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head;
    my heart fails me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me!
    Lord, make haste to help me!
14 Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether
    who seek to snatch away my life;
let those be turned back and brought to dishonor
    who delight in my hurt!
15 Let those be appalled because of their shame
    who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

(Psalm 40:9-15)

Supplication

But may all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
    say continually, “Great is the Lord!”
17 As for me, I am poor and needy,
    but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
    do not delay, O my God! (Psalm 40:16-17)

If you are unable to attend in person, we hope you’ll take time from your busy schedule to pray for our nation, leaders and revival in our churches.
