Recently as I’ve been participating in Project Ezra or just reading the Bible in the open air, it is cumbersome to hold the mic and the Bible all at the same time. Last weekend it was even harded because it was cold and I had also to deal with wearing gloves at the same time. Debbie and Roy mentioned a solution – a headset microphone from Radio Shack that sells for $23. So, I went and bought one. Testing it at home it seems to work well. Will try it out this weekend.
The set includes a battery, headset, strap and a really long wire including an on/off switch. Since I figured the unit would get some heavy use and possibly be bounced around, I also opted for the extended warranty that will replace it should it break. So for about $30, I can use my existing amplifier and be hands free! You can check out this microphone headset at Radio Shack.
For reference, the portable amplifier that we are using is the Behringer EPA40.
I also use the Behringer. I found the shure (WH20XLR – Dynamic headset mic with XLR connector} headset mic to work well but didnt seem to be as loud as the regular microphone. I will be curious to how yours worked.
