In 2010, I spent many of my Saturday’s training and running a marathon. The main ministry item that took a backseat because of this
was the door to door ministry. This week, I’ve started back to the door to door. One evening after work I was able to hit 50 houses in half an hour. The next day at lunch I hit 98 houses in an hour. On Friday I made it to 36 hours in half an hour. Each house got a door hanger with the Gospel message. The door hanger makes a nice way to share the gospel in this environment when most people are not home anyway. There was one house where a man came to the door because his dog had barked. He was really angry and asked “WHAT DO YOU WANT?” I use capitals intentionally here because that is the way he yelled it at me. I told him I was handing out the Gospel. He took it off his door and began to read it as he went back in.
I plan to spend some lunch times going door to door and putting up door hangers. Then as weekends allow, spend time knocking on doors, taking prayer requests and having one on one conversations.
The goal remains to take the Gospel to all 40,000 (or so) households in Carrollton, TX. To date, I’ve been to 2,786 houses!
