April brings the start of Major League Baseball. Enclosed is a new baseball trivia tract that you can use to share the Gospel with baseball fans. The image was created by Cedric Hohnstadt. We acquired rights to print it. You may be familiar with some of Cedric’s other work. He illustrated the Living Waters “Are You a Good Person” cartoon tract based on Ray Comfort’s book “Hell’s Best Kept Secret” (shorter audio version here). Since the Are You a Good Person tract is in the public domain, we were also able to use those images on our own Are you a Good Person tracts. Cedric later made an animated video of the tract where Kirk Cameron voiced Mr. Nice Guy . You can read more about Cedric on his website, especially this article about making the Are You a Good Person video.
Perhaps you are nervous about handing out a trivia tract because you might not know the subject matter yourself. Well, let me let you in on a little secret. The back of our trivia tracts are all the same. That’s right. The back is the same. The questions on the front are multiple choice and whether it’s a football, basketball, hockey, rock n roll, or this baseball tract, the back is the same, which means the answers are the same. The answers are A, B, C, B, and death. Therefore you can confidently quiz people on this trivia, even if you don’t know anything about it, and then when they answer you can tell them if it is right or wrong without having to look at the back of the tract. While quizzing someone on a trivia tract one day in downtown Dallas the guy questioned the correct answer because he had not heard of that person. I pulled out my phone and showed him that the card was correct. Trivia tracts are fun because people love to show how much they know. But, do they know the most important thing, what happens when someone dies.
Easter is April 17th. As a kid Easter was putting on your Sunday best, going to church, easter egg hunts, and big family gatherings. Over the years the world has seemingly made it more commercial with opportunities to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. A number of years ago while doing a lot of witnessing at the shopping malls we would notice the lines of people waiting to take such pictures. We jokingly got to saying “Hoppy Easter” to refer to this. That lead to making this tract which has been popular at Easter ever since. While many may just be looking for a hand out from the Easter Bunny, the true meaning of Easter is found in Matthew 28:6 “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said.”
All through out the Old Testament there are prophesies of Jesus. The resurrection is the fulfillment of these promises. The bookmark that is included with each months mailings has ten Bible verses and ten questions to ask people. Question 7 “What has God done for you?” asks the person to read 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 which is essentially the Gospel in a verse: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)
The answer from reads:
So what has Christ done for you? According to these verses there are three things. He died, was buried and was raised (from the dead)! You’ll also notice that he appeared to people after he was raised from the dead. Now it also says that this was done in “accordance with the Scriptures”. What this means is that there is prophecy (events predicted before they happened) that pointed to Jesus doing these things and proving that he is who he claimed to be: namely God. This is an area for future study to show that the Bible is true and that Jesus is who he claimed to be. Click next to see how much God loves you!
