We have had an amazingly mild winter which has allowed us to spend time out doors. As Spring approaches the daylight is lasting long enough into the evening that I have been able to get out door to door on my way home from work. It’s a great way to get some exercise as well as share the Gospel with the neighborhood.
On Monday night I had the chance to put out about 30 door hangers. I made the “mistake”
of heading to a part of town that was all the way on the opposite side of town from where I was coming from work. I ended up using up more time driving and it got dark before I could get to any more houses. I had one conversation during the time with a lady who said she believes in God, but does not believe in Heaven nor Hell. She did not have any ideas of what happens when a person dies. I had the chance to share the Gospel with her.
So this morning I mapped out an area on the west side of town so that it was closer on my way from work to home. I parked my car and grabbed some door hangers from the trunk. Very few people were home. But I was able to put out a number of door hangers on doors. While I know that sharing the Gospel is not soliciting, I choose not to approach doors with “no soliciting” posted. Instead I take down the address so that we can mail the Gospel to their house. We have printed a postcard version of the “It’s 2AM tract” to send to these houses. This postcard tract will be available for purchase soon. Or if you are part of our door to door 100 challenge we will provide a form where you can request the postcard to be sent to people.
While walking the neighborhood this evening, I got to a point where I realized it would be dark soon and I decided to go to the end of the street at the stop sign. I was not sure if I had enough door hangers to make it to the end of the street. But as it turned out, when I had two door hangers left, I had just two houses left! Amazing given how I just grabbed some door hangers, walked a random neighborhood, skipped the houses with “no soliciting” that the Lord worked it out to have just enough door hangers! Praise God!
I crossed the street to head back to my car. As I did three people were jogging very slowly in the other direction. They were going very slow. So I walked up to them and handed them each one of our new tracts about the human heart. I simply said, “here is some information for you about the human heart.” They said thanks and each took one.
