There have been tough challenging times, harsh weather, opposing local council authorities against the preaching of the Gospel in their Villages but God has been so gracious that I went through it all and remained a conqueror and a Victor. I have been a witness to the salvation of many confessing Christ as their Lord and savior, broken marriages mended, Hope restored, Iam forever Grateful for what God is doing here in Uganda. In the beginning I had no idea on how to begin, where to go and what to tell the people and as far as I could remember, I spent several nights sleeping in where I could find shelter I remember that on my first missionary trip I slept in a School building on a dusty floor and that very night it rained heavily yet the roof was leakingÉso I found a spot in one corner and sat while bending my head towards the knees in order to find warmth for the rest of the Night. So that means I didnŐt sleep at all yet I was to begin my Door-to-Door evangelism the following day. So many times I have gone to places where they do not Know me, no one to welcome me, and I really donŐt know which road to follow or which one to leaveÉeverything has been working by faith because I know that Faith overcomes every fact of life and Nature and I have seen God making ways where they seem to be no ways, I have preached the Gospel through the scorching Sun, heavy rains but Iam always appreciating God that I havenŐt fallen sick while on mission.
ItŐs through Evangelism that have I realized so many challenging things, besides all this I have learnt so many lessons while on these trips, and I do believe that through them, God has taught me so many things that I even couldnŐt have been able to learn if it wasnŐt for evangelism. Well People living in urban areas may not even have a slightest idea about what village life is all about, can you imagine that believers walk for 2 miles to go for prayers on foot! And while at church they find a pastor with a torn Bible with several pages missing! Wearing a tattered shirt, torn and patched trouser? Yet these people love God so much and with all their hearts, minds and worship Dance, sing, praise with Joy and energy! IsnŐt it so touching? In spite of what surrounds them? Yet in urban areas its abit different! How much more would you feel after preaching Gods word to a family and bless them with a kilo of Sugar, some salt and a bar of soap and as a result they dance around, thanking you continuously, as you gaze in awe as their sadness is turned to Joy!ÉDonŐt you think that these people get the real meaning of the Cross and feel ChristŐs love too?
How would you feel if someone was practicing witchcraft or was a magician and after hearing the Gospel confesses Christ and brings all his fetishes to be burnt?, Or how about those tormented by evil spirits getting their deliverance. There is so much work to do and you too can reap the blessings or rewards of Evangelism which God gives to those who diligently serve him. Paul says in 1corinthians 9:16...ÓWoe to me if I preach not the GospelÓ. I am so much challenged by this scripture because it encourages me and as a matter of fact, I donŐt consider my self worthy to be called a minister of the Gospel because of my past but its through the grace of God that Iam able to stand in front of people and share with them Gods salvation plan and ever since I realized that I have to face my past without regrets, handling my present with confidence and preparing for the future without fear encourages me to preach with boldness and with passion knowing that my greatest reward is with God not only life, but also to know that my future lies in God hands in this way I reach out to as many as possible encouraging the timid, and being the best I can so as to win more souls for Christ. Proverbs 11:30 says: ÉÓand he who wins souls is wiseÓ.
Romans 10:14-15 says: ŇHow, then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?Ó...it continues to say Ňhow beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!Ó you and me can make a very big difference in lives of many people sometime back I thought that everyone has heard the Gospel so I believed we the believers, pastors, evangelists, Apostles e.t.c can restÉ.should I tell you something? The world hasnŐt heard the Gospel and I myself am a witness to thisÉand to several regions that I have gone throughÉ.I tell you the world havenŐt come to know Christ Just like the above scriptures have said of which they are true and very true indeed.
Through the Door-to-door evangelism I learned a lot of things to the extent that most people who received Christ had no Bibles and usually asked me for the Bibles but had no place to get them but along the way I reached several churches here in urban areas asking believers who are able to give out old or unused Bibles and some have responded positively God answered my prayer when I met someone and donated Bibles and also some rich literature that could help the Church and its members to grow spiritually from one level to another. Local pastors and believers have given me testimonies about their spiritual Growth; obtaining full knowledge of Gods word also they have increased in faith. From Door-to-Door evangelism, God has uplifted me to organizing Seminars and workshop where I teach and preach Gods word. My first and earliest seminar attracted more than 600 people who registered at the entrance not counting the childrenÉpeople walked miles to attend this seminar, others rode Bicycles. God transformed lives of people and many souls were won for Christ.
It was through the constant movement that I realized after sharing with one of the local pastors who was about to give up with ministry work because it was too much on him. He shared with me about how Christian leaders had given up ministry because it seemed to be a burden to them. I therefore realized the need of organizing seminars and workshops for Believers and also local pastors. so conduct crusades through the help and support of Local pastors in their areas and these Gatherings have attracted people, many have been changed, souls won, Bibles Given out, Clothes, sugar, salt, soap have added value towards the evangelism efforts here in Uganda. É.i have moved from villages to towns and cities of these rural areas. Inclusively village markets, schools, work places like carpentry workshops and Hospitals and clinics as I preached that Jesus is the Lord and Savior. But before all this, I had been so much involved in the Door-to-Door evangelism which was my primary focus. I traveled to far places in search of lost souls, and many received Christ in all these efforts.
However, as I travel to several villages I was touched and moved by the way these people were living. ThereŐs much to write on this topic but I will be as brief as possible because from what I witnessed, I canŐt write it all on this page. Many people were suffering, living in poor bad conditions putting their health at risk. Several homes had been swept away by chronic diseases like, chicken pox and sleeping sickness not forgetting AIDS. And as a result another generation was left wandering on what would happen to them and these are the very children that I saw with my own naked eyes. Most of them are orphans with both of their parents dead, and some are living with AIDS, the others canŐt go to school since their Guardians are very old to dig in Gardens in order to get money for their education and to sustain their families. However, because of poverty, girls of 13 years of age are forced to marry older men of 45 years and above, more still, the whole task of caring for the family, feeding and all the other responsibilities are burdened down to these young Girls. They live are life that isnŐt worth of living for. Iam talking about people who live in grass thatched huts with dusty floors made of mud and cow dung.
I was deeply moved especially for the children, who cant attend school because of school fees which is one to five dollars per term, donŐt have exercise books, lack shoes, no clothing and so much moreÉ.my heart was torn apart one day when I visited a home of an elderly young lady who was struggling with her grandchildren that were left in her care yet she had nothing to keep them strong, alive and in good health. She couldnŐt even put any of these five orphans in school. God spoke to me about establishing a Community child Based organization and Iam still praying and believing God that through this organization many children will be helped. Plans are underway. This Community Based organization is in pursuit of helping the young orphaned Children and the needy through uplifting and enriching their education as we provide scholastic materials and other relevant essential educational tools as a result, hope will be restored and Christ will be glorified.
In ChristŐs service,
Moses Muwanguzi
