At the market

I went to the market to pick up some noodles so my wife could make lasagna. At the checkout there was this nice little card holder to put tracts in. I also gave tracts to the people in line, and the cashier. On the way out there was a bulletin board with jobs and other public announcements so I left a few tracts there as well.

I was outside when the guy came walking up to put the door hanger of ads on my door. I offered him a coexist tract and asked “do you think all religions should simply coexist?” He said he was not a religious man. I offered him a bottle of water which he gratefully accepted. I quickly told him the Gospel and let him get back to work.

Be on the lookout for those opportunities that come right to you!

I sold one of my cars to carmax. So I left a tract on the seat for whomever might find it. Also gave tracts to the sales guy and several of the cashiers.

While paying the bill after lunch at a restaurant, we noticed they had business cards from various local businesses on the counter. So we left a few tracts there as well.

Good job, Dad

The Saturday night before Father’s Day I was out with my kids, and I held the door for a few ladies walking out of a restaurant.  They were so thankful (I don’t think men do that enough anymore), so I handed one of them a tract from church.  The tract says “Judgment Day” really big on the front so many people are easily offended by it. She looked at it, thanked me and said Amen!

Then my 8 year old son who had stuffed about 50 Bezeugen tracts in his wallet took a couple out and handed them to the other two ladies in the group.  One of the women looked and me and said, “Good job, Dad!”

The encouragement I get sometimes from handing tracts to people who are already born-again is immense.  Let me repeat that to you other evangelists – next time you are focusing on the hatred you receive, the rejection, the dirty looks and accusations – please allow yourself to remember the moments when a fellow Christian gave you an “Amen” or a “Thanks!” upon receiving a tract!

And seeing my son have a desire to share Christ with others is so pleasing to me as well.  Sharing the gospel is always worth it; we shall never regret trying to help someone know about Jesus; we will regret the times we did not.

And I think it can be important to get kids involved as well. I’ve never forced my kids to hand out tracts; it has always been their choice; But as fathers, we are called to be examples to our children, and they are watching us constantly. My young man wants to be like his dad, which can be scary at times; but by the grace of God, he is learning to share the most important thing in the world with others any chance he gets, even if it means interrupting a night out with the family.

To God be the glory!

It’s still there

When we go to the bookstore, I like to put tracts into the books for people to use as bookmarks. On this occasion, I visited Barnes and Nobles and was putting tracts in the qurans and opened this “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Koran” book to find a tract from last visit still there…

I suppose the good news here is that no one has bought the book to study the quran.

The employees are sure to come ask if they can help you. So be sure to give them a tract too. Today they asked, “do you have any questions?” I said, “yes, have you got peace?” and then handed them a Got Peace tract! That lead to a nice discussion about the Gospel with two different employees.
