Are Christmas Tracts Necessary?

I am ALL FOR Christmas-based tracts. I think they are interesting and appropriate as people’s thoughts are on Christmas during the season.

But what if you’ve run out of Christmas tracts? You spent all 20 or 30 Bezeugen sent you, and you can’t justify buying more because you’ve got a stockpile of tracts at home already!

I’ll share with you an example of how EVERY tract can be a Christmas-tract! Yesterday, I was at the bank and the teller asked me if I was “all ready for the holiday.” After some light conversation about presents and traveling to visit family, I simply handed her a tract from my church and said, “here’s a card which explains the true meaning of why Jesus came.” It was very simple, truthful and the Christmas season even provided a great introduction for me.

It really doesn’t matter if the tract has candy canes on it or references to Santa. The fact is that any tract that explains

  1. man’s sin nature
  2. God’s judgement on Christ for repentant sinners who believe
  3. and His glorious resurrection

is a qualified tract to explain the true meaning of Christmas!

To God be the Glory, great things he has done!

A member of our tract club, Scott, sent me this picture of a tract that he left at Burger King!

This is an easy way to hand out Gospel tracts. When we ask people why they don’t hand them out, by far, the number one answer is FEAR! This fear can be fear of a person rejecting them or the fear of not knowing what to say if the person asks to have the tract explained to them. When putting tracts out like this, the fear is gone because the person who gets it will get it after you have left!

Please email us your pictures and we will add them to the BLOG here! Let’s see the creative ways you come up with to put tracts out.

Went to the Store

I went to the store to share the Gospel and happened to get some milk while I was there. I gave tracts to two people and put about six more in the six packs of beer. When I handed a tract to the cashier and told her it was a Gospel tract she got really excited and said “cool”!

You see, you don’t need to be afraid to hand someone a Gospel tract. Most of the time they will be thankful and take it!

Halloween

Halloween is a great opportunity to hand out tracts. My wife and I sat on the bench in front of our house. When the kids came to trick or treat we would give them candy and a Gospel tract. Many others did the same. Here are some comments from people on the Bezeugen Tract Club Facebook page:

13 out of 13 kids got tracts with their treats. – Katie

I handed out about 50 at a mall exit. It was interesting; as they where coming out the exit I just stuck out a card and said its free here have one. Everyone was happy to receive one because they where free. It was awesome. I said don’t forget to read the back. – Kenneth

I am sure there are many others who handed out tracts at the mall, at home or at some church event. I had another comment of handing out tracts door to door:

Lastnite as we went trick or treating when they gave my daughter candy my son handed them a gospel tract it was good – Rodney

Keep these ideas in mind for next year and then try one or more of them out. In some of these cases you don’t even have to go anywhere as the kids come right to your door!

  • giving out a CD
  • offering to buy lunch
  • witnessing on one one with the Bible bookmark
  • baseball trivia
  • got peace
  • …. AND …
  • buying a soul for a dollar

A mission trip to WalMart

A tract club member, Scott, emailed me this message. I pray that it will encourage you to share the Gospel – As You Go!

I went grocery shopping with my family tonight. We usually have church on Thursdays, but we had it on Tuesday this week because of preparation for a weekend wedding. When we pulled in to the parking lot, we saw our friend Bro. Wayne , Bro. Willard , and two other men that they go to church with. They were preaching and holding signs. Bro.  Wayne and his wife have been preaching in front of Walmart for many years. I have preached there with them a few times before. We preached together at the mall one Christmas. Bro. JJ preached with them a few weeks ago. They said that they are going to be out there every Thursday night. Bro. Willard is also a veteran street preacher. A homosexual ran other him with a motorcycle while he was preaching at a bar several years ago. Please pray that the Lord will bless their efforts.
While in Walmart, I talked to a Spanish couple, Daniel and Dora. They said that they were Christians. I told Daniel about how I have learned some Spanish. I also told him about some of the Spanish music that I listen to. I gave him my work business card. He had an interest in getting some glasses. I pray that I get to talk to them again. I asked Robert if he was saved. He responded that he went to church, but wasn’t doing right. After I has asked him where he would be if he died five seconds ago, he said that he would be in hell. I gave him the tract ( from the Beuzeugen Tract Club ) that  appears in the picture below. I pray that I will see Robert in Heaven ! Have you shared your faith today ?

Business reply

Is your house like mine? The majority of what comes in the mail is junk. When I bring the mail in, I sort it into stacks. There is the stack of things to recycle, the stack of things to shred, the stack of things that I actually need and then one more stack … business reply envelopes. You know the ones I am talking about. They are the credit card offers, the magazine offers, etc that send the postage paid business reply envelopes in the mail.

Well, rather than putting them in the recycle pile, create a separate pile of them. Then once a week, or whatever works for you, stick tracts in each envelope and put them in your mailbox. The postage is already paid and whoever gets them will receive something even more valuable than what they were requesting – the message of eternal life!
