Are Christmas Tracts Necessary?

I am ALL FOR Christmas-based tracts. I think they are interesting and appropriate as people’s thoughts are on Christmas during the season.

But what if you’ve run out of Christmas tracts? You spent all 20 or 30 Bezeugen sent you, and you can’t justify buying more because you’ve got a stockpile of tracts at home already!

I’ll share with you an example of how EVERY tract can be a Christmas-tract! Yesterday, I was at the bank and the teller asked me if I was “all ready for the holiday.” After some light conversation about presents and traveling to visit family, I simply handed her a tract from my church and said, “here’s a card which explains the true meaning of why Jesus came.” It was very simple, truthful and the Christmas season even provided a great introduction for me.

It really doesn’t matter if the tract has candy canes on it or references to Santa. The fact is that any tract that explains

  1. man’s sin nature
  2. God’s judgement on Christ for repentant sinners who believe
  3. and His glorious resurrection

is a qualified tract to explain the true meaning of Christmas!

To God be the Glory, great things he has done!

As You Go: Defined

The past ten days we have been blessed beyond belief to have my good friend Duane visit from California. In addition to the good fellowship, we were able to witness at the State Fair, World Series, have a mock funeral and have some great discussions like about God Sized Questions.  One thing that we discussed is that while all these outreaches are great, that what we really want to encourage people to do is to share the Gospel “as you go”.

What do we mean by “as you go evangelism”? Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 “as you go make disciples…” This does not necessarily mean making a trip overseas to Africa or Asia. Rather, the going is implied and the making disciples is the action. So where are you going today? To the store? Great. Use that as an opportunity to make disciples. Are you going to work? Great! Use that as an opportunity to make disciples as you go to work. Are you going to school? Great, use going to school as an opportunity to make disciples!

You get the idea. Anywhere you go is an opportunity to make disciples. I love the excitement of the big “events” like the World Series and the State Fair. There are thousands of people there. We can hand out a lot of tracts, preach the Gospel and share the Gospel one on one with many people. What I have found over the last five years is that by going to events, it is like a little mini mission trip. It could be a mission trip to a ball game to hand out some tracts. Or a mission trip to the mall to talk one on one with some people.

What I have found is that little mission trip made people more evident in my life. If I had been on one of these mission trips to the mall during lunch and then stopped on the way home from work to run an errand for my wife, when I stopped at that store, I was more apt to hand someone a tract or share the Gospel with them one on one. Over time that would spill over to the next day and then the next.

If you were to hang around me, or talk with one of my close friends or family members, you’d see or hear about how I normally hand a tract to someone everywhere that I go. This came from years of practice doing it and making these little mini mission trips.

I’d like to encourage you to do the same. You never know whose path you will cross that needs to hear the Gospel from you! I encourage you to join the Bezeugen Tract Club and receive 30 FREE Gospel tracts per month from us. Then hand them out one each day to the people who God brings across your path!

Why are you at the mall

We often plan special trips to the mall just to share the Gospel. Our current schedule is to go to Stonebriar Mall in Frisco every Tuesday at lunch. Last week when I went into the mall, I noticed a new sign that they had painted on the wall.

The sign states “what brings you today?” and then lists a number of stores/reasons. It struck me that “share the Gospel” was not included in the list.

Now, I understand that every person does not necessarily come there to intentionally share the Gospel like we had done. We will come and eat lunch and then wonder around for 45 minutes to an hour to specifically share the Gospel. But, shouldn’t every person who calls themselves a Christian ultimately be there to share the Gospel “as you go”

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:19a)

Jesus’ command to us is to make disciples. The fact that we are going is implied. So, yes, while we may be going to the mall to shop or watch a movie, please remember the command of our Lord to make disciples as we go!

You can receive 30 FREE Gospel tracts per month and the encouragement to hand out one each day as you go from the Bezeugen Tract Club. Enroll online today!

We designed a new t-shirt to help you share the Gospel “as you go”. The shirt says “Are You Ready?” on the front and features Hebrews 9:27 on the back. Just wearing this shirt prompts people to ask “ready for what?” and then you can ask them if they are ready for judgement or eternity. The shirts are for sale on the Bezeugen Zazzle site.

Do you already have one? Please post a comment with your experience wearing the Are You Ready t-shirt!
